Already Working at Dawn

Early morning on the corner of Coon Rock and Hwy 14.  The workers are already out and picking or de-tassling corn and there are potatoes in the area too! Hard work no doubt! And lots of humidity! 

Interesting Plant

What is this? 

Train Cars appear to be permanently along this road!

These cars have been sitting along this stretch of the highway for at least two years now.  What an interesting place to store them.  Apparently this stretch of tracks is no longer used?

94 acres of Farm Land right on Hwy 14, Arena

This is the land the little cottage sits on.   Notice in the upper right hand corner  the Flag flies.

Move this cottage and it's yours!

This little cottage has had many faces.  It is located right on Hwy 14 just outside Arena.  It was originally a tavern, but since has been an antique store, and various craft stores.  But, now it is just sitting there looking pretty and hopefully someone will move it to a better location.  The land around the cottage is for sale.  The farm has been torn down, and the land is probably leased for planting corn this year.

Ginseng

Ugly, but it grows wild around our property. Every year we have to watch for people coming in and trying to harvest it.   We are afraid that they will ruin it by digging up the whole thing!

This year my son is going to use them for beer.  These are Cascade Hops.  They love where they are growing.  In almost gravel.  Go figure!

This little guy likes to play with me when I get on our driveway at night.  He sits on one side of the driveway and when I come in, he runs to the other side.  I think his mom needs to teach him about cars!  He is so cute though!
